Overview:
The Remote Area Nurse will provide comprehensive Nursing care in regional and remote Aboriginal Medical Clinics, focusing on culturally sensitive health services to Indigenous communities. This role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to work autonomously in diverse and sometimes challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary healthcare, emergency response, and chronic disease management in a remote community.
- Collaborate with Aboriginal Health Workers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver culturally safe care.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and wound care while maintaining accurate clinical records.
- Educate the community on health promotion, disease prevention, and well-being.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to medical emergencies as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: a Bachelor's in Registered Nursing with a current AHPRA and Graduate Certificate in Nursing (Rural and Remote Nursing preferred but experience in this field is highly regarded
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of Clinical Nursing experience, desirably, in Regional & Remote or Indigenous health settings or if background in General Medical Clinics, a passion for working with our Aboriginal and Indigenous communities
Additional Requirements:
- Cultural Awareness: Understanding of Aboriginal health issues and the social determinants of health impacting Indigenous communities
- First Aid/CPR Certification: Current First Aid and CPR certification is required
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed (clinic car provided whilst working)
- Background Check: A police clearance and Working with Children Check required for these roles
